Debora Guimarães is a screenwriter, professor, and script consultant. She has written series such as Impuros (Star+), Novela (Amazon Prime), and Arcanjo Renegado, one of Globoplay’s biggest hits. She is currently a writer on A Doutrina, another series in partnership with AfroReggae and Globoplay, as well as DH – Delegacia de Homicídios for Disney+. She also participated in the development of Juntas e Separadas (Globoplay) and an upcoming action series for Max, currently under confidentiality.
In animation, she was nominated for the 2020 International Emmy Kids for the series Ico Bit Zip (NatGeo) and for the Grande Otelo Award for Brazilian Cinema for the feature film Tromba Trem, o Filme (Disney+). In the documentary field, she co-wrote Meu Nome é Daniel, shortlisted for the 2019 Oscar at the FICCI International Film Festival in Cartagena, winning the "Documental Calificado Oscar” award, and screened in the official selection of IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival).
Debora focuses on developing narratives with inventive and socially resonant universes. She is a PhD candidate in Literary Science at UFRJ, where she researches horror and fear in contemporary Latin American fiction by female authors. She specialized in screenwriting at the Darcy Ribeiro film school and completed the Advanced TV Writing Modules 1 and 2 at Columbia University.
