Juliana Rojas

Juliana Rojas is a director and screenwriter recognized in the independent film circuit, with extensive experience collaborating with streaming platforms. She has just directed the dramedy series Amora, an adaptation of the book by Natalia Borges Polesso for Canal Brasil, featuring a strong focus on actors’ direction.

She has worked as a screenwriter on series such as Supermax (Globo), 3% (Netflix), and Boca a Boca (Netflix), the latter of which she also directed episodes for, alongside Esmir Filho. Known for her mastery of fantasy, horror, and thriller genres, Juliana has also directed the series Terrores Urbanos (Record) and Tarã (Disney+), set to premiere in 2026.

In her auteur cinema work, highlights include the short films O Duplo and A Passagem do Cometa, as well as the feature films Sinfonia da Necrópole (awarded at the 29th Mar del Plata International Film Festival and the 47th Gramado Film Festival, among others) and Cidade; Campo, which won Best Director in the Encounters section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival (2024) and the Critics’ Jury Award at the 52nd Gramado Film Festival (2024).

In collaboration with Marco Dutra, she directed the short films O Lenço and Um Ramo, and the feature films Hard Labor (Trabalhar Cansa) and Good Manners (As Boas Maneiras), both selected and awarded at major festivals such as Cannes (2011), Locarno (2017), and Festival do Rio (2019).

Over the past years, she has also developed partnerships with emerging directors and writers through creative consulting. For more than a decade, she has worked as a script and directing consultant for films and series, helping to deepen narrative language and adapt projects to their production realities.

Juliana is also a member of AMPAS — the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — in the directors branch and serves as an Oscar voter.
