Lula Carvalho

Lula Carvalho is a cinematographer whose work has helped shape some of the most iconic productions in contemporary Brazilian audiovisual storytelling. He served as director of photography on acclaimed feature films such as Bingo: The King of the Mornings, directed by Daniel Rezende; Elite Squad and Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, directed by José Padilha; The Wolf Behind the Door, directed by Fernando Coimbra; Open Road, directed by Breno Silveira; and Artificial Paradises, directed by Marcos Prado, among others.

With a strong presence in the international market, Lula was also the director of photography for the major Netflix series Narcos and The Night Agent, as well as feature films including 7 Days in Entebbe, RoboCop, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

His documentary Auto de Resistência (Kill Me Please), co-directed with Natasha Neri, screened at major documentary film festivals and won the award for Best Brazilian Film at the É Tudo Verdade (It's All True) International Documentary Festival.
