Maíra is an author and screenwriter with extensive experience in writers’ rooms, having worked in the Brazilian audiovisual market for over a decade. Between 2018 and 2023, she was a staff writer at TV Globo, with highlights including the drama series Segunda Chamada (Seasons 1 and 2), twice nominated for the ABRA Award for Best Drama Series Screenplay and winner of the APCA Award for Best Series of 2019, and the young adult series As Five (Seasons 2 and 3).
Recently, she worked as a screenwriter on a series project by Paranoid for Netflix and has just completed another project as head writer on a literary adaptation series for Globoplay, in partnership with Glaz.
She holds a degree in Film and specialized in audiovisual screenwriting at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. She began her career as a screenwriter at Conspiração Filmes, where she worked for five years in the Creative and Development Department for audiovisual series. Her credits include Detetives do Prédio Azul, Vai que Cola, Amor Veríssimo, Planeta Palavra, and Magnífica 70, among others.
She is also the screenwriter behind music videos for singer-songwriter Rubel, including “Quando Bate Aquela Saudade,” “Partilhar,” “Toda Beleza,” “Putaria,” and “Ben,” among others.
As a resident researcher at LABo Art in Rio de Janeiro, she investigates dramaturgical creation in real time through a direct process with actors. An avid reader, she is particularly interested in literary adaptations and in exploring humor as a tool for building complex characters, both in comedy and drama. She has a strong interest in literary adaptations, romantic comedies, and dramedies.
