Rod Azevedo

Rod Azevedo was born in Itaquera, a district in the East Zone of São Paulo. He has worked as an elderly caregiver and a bartender before becoming a screenwriter.
He graduated from the Audiovisual Studies program at ECA-USP (the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo) and has contributed to the screenplays of feature films such as Beyond the Universe (2022, Netflix) and Lost Sofia (Perdida, 2023, Disney+). He is credited as co-screenwriter of the audience hit Caramelo (2025, Netflix), which won the 2026 ABRA Award for Best Comedy Screenplay and became the most-watched Brazilian Netflix original film worldwide. He also co-wrote the feature film The Ten Advantages of Dying After You (As Dez Vantagens de Morrer Depois de Você), scheduled for theatrical release in August 2026.
He is currently part of the writers' room for the second season of a young adult Netflix series produced in partnership with Boutique Filmes, while also developing a commercial feature film with HungryMan.
